An official overview of the founding, the location, and the development
Gezera Sporting Club is one of the oldest and most prominent sporting and social landmarks in the city of Mansoura, Dakahlia Governorate. It stands out for its unique strategic location on the banks of the Nile (Damietta branch), making it a key destination for families and athletes across the Delta.
Founding Date
The club was officially established on 7 May 1986.
Registration Date
It was officially registered as a sporting and social entity on 21 March 1992.
Area
The club spans an area of roughly 16 feddans (equivalent to 60,000 square metres).
Historical Highlights & Developments
Origin of the Site
The island's land once belonged to the Directorate of Agriculture, and an agriculturalists' club was planned there. A concrete structure was built but work on it later halted, becoming what is now the famous "Blue Hall" inside the club.
The Name
The club took its name from "Gezeret El-Ward" (Island of Roses), the old name for the city of Mansoura, which was once renowned for the many rose gardens surrounding it.
Management
The club's board is currently chaired by MP Tarek Abdel-Hady, who has held the position since 2009.
Expansions
In May 2025, the foundation stone was laid for the club's second branch in New Mansoura, to serve as a new beach and sports resort for members.
